Support and Educational Groups
DVRC offers a variety of support and educational groups including:
HOPE group: Hope group is a support group for women who have experienced or are experiencing domestic violence. It provides a safe place for you to discuss what you are experiencing and the feelings you have. Hope group meets every Thursday, from 6:30-8:00 pm in our office. No appointment is necessary. Childcare is provided.
“I Can Be Me” group: Meeting simultaneously with Hope group, this group is targeted for children ages 7-12 years old. The group allows those who have been through similar experiences to come together and learn new skills. Topics discussed are similar to those discussed in individual counseling.
“Reach” Group: REACH is a 10-week support and education group for teenage girls ages 13-17. The group will provide a safe environment for teens to discuss such topics as healthy relationships, gender roles, body image and conflict resolution. Please call for more details.
Project Hope and Power: Offered in collaboration with Soroptimist International of Saratoga County, Hope and Power is an innovative financial literacy program aimed at teaching women the skills they need to become financially secure and independent. Hope and Power is designed to help you aquire the following skills: safety planning, financial management, establishing credit, increasing personal financial assets, accessing affordable housing options, upgrading skills to advance professionally, setting and achieving goals for increased independence. Hope and Power is offered 3 times per year. Please call for more information and to register. Child care is provided.
